About us

Born in 2020 at the onset of a worldwide pandemic Pi Amp has persevered to realize our vision. Using the delays of the supply chain to refine our amplifier to be what we first imagined could be possible. We have created an amp that sounds as good as it looks. Dig a little deeper below to see who we are and what we all about.
Our Story
Kelly and Doug are two guys that love tone.

In 2019 Kelly had an idea "What about an amplifier that is round?" Wouldn't it look cool and wouldn't it more accurately deliver the sounds created by my amp and speaker?" he thought? About this time he took his brand new guitar to a guitar shop in Scottsdale Arizona to be wired. It was a very complicated wiring job and Doug the shop technician handled it easily.

When Kelly picked up his guitar he met with Doug and asked "Hey do you know anybody that builds amps?". Doug replied  "Yes, I do". Doug explained that as an amplifier repair technician he has years of experience digging into every kind of amp imaginable. But this was not enough for Doug. Doug is not just a repair tech he is a student of the craft.

So Doug set out to learn all he could about amplifiers and amplifier history and amplifier theory (amplifier theory? Who knew?"). Doug spent 6000 hours learning about amplifiers. Yes, 6000 hours! If you know Doug  this would not surprise you, not even a little.

So when Kelly asked that fateful question the beginning of a great partnership was born.

They agreed to meet and Kelly brought his first round speaker cabinet for Doug to try out. Kelly watched as Doug plugged one of his custom amp creations into the cabinet.

It sounded amazing! From that moment Pi Amp  was born and the long process of making our first amp began.
